Here we are...

I got to thinking about my blog the other day, and realized once I logged in, that it had been since 2016 that I last published a post. I can't believe how much time has passed, and all the changes that have occurred, as well!

Hunter graduated from high school here in Cody, and moved to Laramie to begin school as a freshman at the University of Wyoming. He went for 2 semesters, moved home for the summer, and returned to Laramie in August, last year. He is not currently attending school, but instead is working to save money so he can attend again in the fall. We are proud of the man he is becoming, but it's sometimes hard to take a step back and let our child learn hard lessons on his own. It truly keeps me up at night with worry.

Corrine is a senior and cannot wait to graduate. She has had a successful year, and seems to be living in the moment. She was named co-drum major for the high school's marching band. They went to the state level and received a Superior (the highest) rating. She wants to pursue a degree in nursing, and is planning on attending Northwest College this fall to finish up her generals, where she will either continue on with Northwest, or transfer to Utah State. She's such a help with housework, Laynee, and is a great example of faith and positivity in our home.

Laynee is in 6th grade (middle school) and seems to be enjoying it. She has made some wonderful friends. She continues to compete in gymnastics, and will compete at the state level in March, as a level 4 gymnast. She loves to write stories, draw and be with her friends. She keeps us laughing while at the same time throwing our hands up in frustration at her strong will and sometimes, stubborn attitude. She loves her hamster, Chubs, and is a compassionate pet owner. She's super organized and probably the cleanest of our 3 children. She has a big heart and loves to snuggle.

Michael still loves his job and always amazes me with his adventurous spirit. He is a friend to all who meet him, never complains about the amount of work to be done, and does a wonderful job providing for our little family. He is the perfect companion for me to happily and contentedly spend my life with.

I am working full time at the school district in the Student Support Services administration office (formerly Special Education). My boss is the director of Student Support Services. It's a great job, and I am happy there. I do miss the days where I can be a homemaker, though. I don't seem to have much time/energy for the things that I used to; grocery shopping, laundry, house cleaning, etc. They get done, but only half-heartedly. I have decided to go back to school to pursue a degree in nursing. Maybe even midwifery. I loved my work as a doula, and I miss it often. And I think I have no time/energy NOW!

We are settling in, here in Cody. We have made some wonderful friends, and the feelings of loneliness have dulled. I still miss my amazing friends, who we left behind in Oregon, but I feel completely at home here. Now if someone could just invent a teleportation device for humans, that would be greaaat!

I hope to be here more often, in the future! Until then, know that you are (almost) always on my mind. :)
