A Little Catching Up

Blink blink blink came the spider.
What were you going to say?
Silence.
When you haven't written anything besides your signature on a homework sheet for a really long time, all you get is nonsense and incoherent words that you borrow from your 7 year old who reads over your shoulder as you type and says, "Why are you writing everything I'm saying?"

Where to begin? At the beginning? Who's to say where that starts?
How about if I just throw information at you and go from there, eh?
We sold our house, put an offer in on a beautiful 5 acre parcel of land (which was accepted!) where we were going to build our dream house and live until the end of our days. Then the buyer's appraiser came and valued our house too low to sell. (Someone who lives two hours away from our current home, thus not being familiar with the area,  and appraises our 3 bedroom, remodeled, newly roofed home as a 2 bedroom, non-updated, fixer-upper is not someone I am happy with at the moment.) So we decided not to sell for now, and cancelled the offer we made on the dream property, and here we still are! It's a good thing we are happy here, or I would be just another crazy homeowner gone ballistic and who created a sink hole in the appraisers driveway causing his whole house and car and person to fall deep into the earth taking the Scarlet Letter Appraisal with him, never to be seen or heard from again.

School ends in 3 days and what's that I hear? Nothing. No alarm clocks buzzing at 5:15 am. No children whining because they don't like school and have no friends only to be swarmed by 1,000 other children who love and adore her. No more nightly discussions on why you can't have sleepovers on school nights. No more hounding the teenagers (yes, that is plural. We have TWO teenagers now!) to do their homework, AND chores; just the chores. :) Simply no more. NO MAS.

Allergy season is in full swing as is my itching and watering eyes, ears, nose, mouth. And head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes, knees and toes. Laynee has decided she has allergies, too. She proudly announces to anyone within earshot, "My mom has allergies. BUT SO DO I." She is not one to be left out.

Corrine turned 13. Laynee turned 7 and Hunter will be 15 very soon. Did you know that where we live, kids can get their driving permit at 15? Yep. And he will be totally legal to drive a vehicle - A HEAVY MACHINE - in just a few short months. Of course, he will have to have a parent with him at all times, but this does nothing to ease my anxiety about the issue! Thank goodness he's a good boy or I would be one of those parents who never lets their children get their license until they move out of the house and live on their own and pay for their own driver's ed course. (Because our school doesn't offer it, the kiddos take it from the local community college.) Which, now that I'm thinking about it, is probably a really great idea.

In addition to working at the school (for 3 more days!) I am working at the racetrack as the concessions manager for the summer. It's pretty fun and I get to do A LOT of people watching at the racetrack, which is one of my best skills. I have become pretty much a pro. And trust me, there are all kinds of people to watch there. For example, I once saw a man with a cat on a leash. The cat was wearing a pink scarf and matching booties. I also saw a woman wearing a shorty-short-short skirt (who probably shouldn't wear one) with the word "Bling" tattooed on the back of each of her thighs. In large bold print. Probably it was New Times Roman font, but I can't be sure. Classy, I tell you. Oh! And I can't forget the woman who curled and ratted her hair so big that birds literally thought they could build their nest inside it. Wait. That was me. In my defense, I looked goooood. And I was trying to help the bird out of my food prep area. Ha!

I guess that about sums it up. We are here, we are healthy, we are happy.

And it 3 days, we will be SCHOOL FREE! (I am not at all excited!!! Do not let the over use of exclamation points fool you!)
