pups and silly faces

We set up a kennel outside in our yard for the babies to stay in, once they figured out how to escape the birthing pool. Every night we would go out and let them out for a while and we would play, play, play with them. A highlight of everyone's day for sure.
At first they would stay near us, but then the more adventuresome pups of the litter would push the limits of their exploration times and before we knew it, we had to block off parts of the yard to keep them from getting into too much trouble.

And then there's Laynee. She loved, LOVED those pups. If ever I couldn't find her, I only needed to look outside to see her lying in the kennel with the pups. Sometimes she would be inside the doghouse too. And to answer the question you must already be thinking; yes. Yes she did start to smell like puppies. You should use your imagination here and let it run wild with all the smells that are associated with puppies. In a kennel. Outside. That is kept clean, but still only cleaned out twice a day. Mmmmm. Let's just say she would bathe frequently.

And while we're on the subject of Laynee, allow me to share some special pictures of her with you. See, she stood by our garage and said, "Mom! Take a picture of me like this! Now like this. Aaaand this. This. This. Like this." I kept shooting away and laughing! Man that little girl has some personality!
See for yourself...

This is Corrinee with Sunny. She was one of the twins and also the instigator in nearly every exploration expedition. She sortof became the leader of the pack. Very smart, this one. And sweet.  It really was hard to let her go.
And this is how we would find them after a romp in the yard. All snuggled up with mama. She took such good care of them. And just look at how adorable that is to see them laying with her!
