May Days ahead

So excited that it's May! I love being warm and after a beautiful day like today, it's easy to see the promise of a gorgeous summer just around the corner!
We made a day trip over to the coast and had a blast playing in the surf and sand. Of course we walked away with a good portion of the beach in our nooks and crannies, but what would a trip to the beach be without a little sand in your ears, teeth and h-h-h eyes? (That's a little inside joke. Meaning, you'd have to be inside my mind to understand it. Or at least have been present at a family gathering.)
This month, the middle school has declared it to be walk to school month. Every child that walks to school for 8 consecutive school days, will receive a ticket for their name to be entered into a drawing for a new bike. AND, to up the ante a little, if you bring along a guest, such as a parent or sibling, you get an additional ticket. How awesome is it that we live within walking distance to our school? Also, how cool is it that we live in a small town, so there won't be a whole lot of competition for the kids? Hahaha! Take that all you city dwellers with more than 150 students in your middle school!
I wonder if pets count...We could put Daisy on a leash, Olive follows us all over town anyway and meows loudly for us to wait if we get too far ahead of her. The birds could ride on Hunter's shoulder and Laynee could carry the turtles. That's 6 extra tickets for the H man, not counting me, Laynee, Corrine and all of Laynee's Polly Pocket dollies.
Sweeeeeet.
We are totally going to win. I just know it.

hahaha ERMA, I love it. Love small townish walk to school-win a bike! Heck I walked to school. Yeah, although it wasn't up hill, I still walked...had to, mom didn't drive and we only had one car anyway. Even had to take a sack lunch for a while when I got out of the hospital but we had to walk home for lunch and back again, making 4 trips back and forth....Oma would always have a yummy tunafish sandwich ready for me and sometimes my friends, she would put a little sugar in the tuna and mayo to make is kind of sweet. Does that surprise you? hehehe my frinds would tell me it was the best tuna EVER! Glad to see schools are encouraging kiddies to be walking....(sigh)
