Flowers and hippies and music
One of our favorite recipes is bacon wrapped goose. Simply put, it is delicious. Seriously. It melts in your mouth. So why wouldn't we serve it up for our special guest?
Salud!
As delicious as the meal was for us, Laynee refused to eat any of it. Which is no surprise, really. Her most commonly uttered phrase is, "I don't like dinner. Or food." But I'll be a monkey's uncle if Grandma didn't get her to eat every last bite of her mashed potatoes.
Dear Grandma,
Can you come and feed her all the time?
Michael's Aunt Bicky (or more commonly known as Vicky) let Grandma borrow this super fun Car-I-Oke cd and booklets to go along with it. It was fun to sing along with. Thanks, Bicky!
Ah. The weekend Grandma was here, there was the Spring Craft Fair. Also known as the Hippie Fair. Not that we would call it that to it's face...well...Corrine did say something a little loudly about "all the hippies" that were present. (The above video is a gem. Seriously. These guys were awesome.) Anyways, the girls wanted to get their faces painted. I was happy to oblige. And the look on Laynee's face was priceless; reward enough.
Her request was for him to "paint her into a princess." She sat still and didn't move a muscle the whole time.
It's times like these that I have to record in my memory and replay over and over again. Especially on days like yesterday and today when she is being the biggest sugarhead.
Corrine chose a gorgeous hibiscus. Kinda makes you want to learn how to paint, huh? Or at least visit Hawaii.
After the hippie fair, we ventured up north a little ways to an eating establishment to hear my banjo teacher and his band play. They are the entertainment from 6 to 9 pm every 1st, 3rd and 4th Sundays. If you're ever up in our neck of the woods, you should check 'em out!
While we were sitting there eating and enjoying the music, a gentleman came up to our table and says to the girls, "I'm a new grandpa and in honor of my grandbaby, I'd like you ladies to have these flowers." They were cuts from a winter blooming daphne. I came straight home and planted mine and wouldn't you know that it's got new growth! Woo hoo for pretty flowers!
Their parting words to the crowd were, "If you like what you heard, well then come on back and see us again, and don't forget to drive safley home. If you don't like what you heard, well who are we to tell you how to drive?"
Our brood was quite tired after a long day, and this was how they ended up on the ride home. Comfy cozy.
Grandma's last day...coming up.
