During those blustery days of January, we were able to find some fun outings of which to partake. We were lucky to be able to enjoy some warmer weather for about 2 weeks. (This meant that the temps and environment reached that of above really cold and mildewy to semi chilly and slightly damp. Because nothing in the Pacific Northwest in the winter is ever considered dry.) There is no lack of verdant-ness here. Uh-uh. Nope. No way José.
Miguel is only a little bit dithyrambic at encouraging us all to Get Out and Experience the Outdoors. Especially when we (I) don't really feel like leaving the house. (I.E., putting on normal clothes and changing out of my swehhhhtsssss.)
The weather was glorious, the kids were perfect and the river was invigorating. It's amazing how a little bit of nature and fresh air can make a person feel as though they've just had a defibrillator zap them out of their doldrums.

We have some friends whose little boy adores Hunter. He follows him everywhere and is constantly calling for his attention whenever Hunter is around. But he says Hunter's name like, "Huntahhh. HUNTAHHH!" So when I look at this picture, that's what I want to say. "Huntahhh! What you doing? What you doing silly?"
I think Miguel wanted to take advantage of the fishing and not feel guilty about leaving the fam behind while he did so. Which I suspect was his reason for
Girl cracks me up. And she doesn't even have to do anything! Just look at her. Doesn't her smile and personality shine? She makes me want to reach right through the screen and squeeze her. I could just walk across the house to her room but that would require me to abandon my microwave warmed bean bag and the comfort of my bed as I type on this here laptop. Good thing I smooched her something good just before bed tonight. That'll tide me over till tomorrow.
These are the moments I wish to freeze in time forever and ever and ever.
"Everything in the country has a distinct sound, even in nature, a sound that inevitably calls for a response, if only to admire the maker's industry or beauty." (Stolen from a book I read, though I can't remember the author or the title.)
