When we go hunting,
I feel like I should
Michael and I went in search of deer
Anybody want a peanut?
This is what we saw. For days in a row.
Fog and fog. And trees. And fog.
This is how I felt about it. But Michael? Doesn't seem to phase him. He just continues to "glass". He gets pretty serious when we're out. I get a little restless and start to play tricks on him. Like that one time (or those 18 times) I said I spotted a deer when it was really a stump, or when I sometimes pull out long blades of grass and try to tickle him with them, but he never notices, so it's no fun. Well, maybe he does notice but he ignores me because we are hunting! There is no joking around when we are hunting! Sometimes I bet he wishes he had a quieter hunting partner. Or someone whose attention span outlasted that of the dog on that one movie where the dog kept getting distracted by a squirrel!
Speaking of
squirrel!, we never saw any. But we did see this cute little guy below. A baby possum. Michael saw him in the middle of the road when we were driving to another spot to check out. I did not notice him because I had my forehead pressed against the passenger window, blowing my breath out my nose onto the glass and fogging it up to see what kind of shapes I could make and how they would differ if I changed the pressure/pattern with which I exhaled. Michael stopped the truck and jumped out and goes, "Emily! Come here! Quick! Look what I found!" I had no idea whether or not he was talking deer and I was still thinking about the last shape my breath made, so I stumbled out of the truck and ran around the back of it in a small haze of confusion. When I went around to the front of the truck again, Michael was over on the side of the road giving me a curious look. I blinked once, which brought me back to the present, and I saw what he was looking at. Michael picked the little guy up and as fierce as he looked, he stayed in this position the whole time. Didn't make any sounds or move at all. So cute! He tried to make us believe he was going to bite our fingers off, but his teeth weren't all that big so it probably would have just only punctured the skin a little bit instead of leaving a gaping hole. But we wouldn't have had to worry about rabies because Michael is caught up on his rabies vaccinations.

We did see some amazing views besides the local wildlife though.
Sometimes though, we consider our own offspring to be local wildlife. Good thing this one was plum tuckered out. Too bad it only lasted for the 45 minute ride home.
Oh well. She sure melts our hearts when she's being sweet like that.
Meanwhile, Miguel is still looking for deer.
*sigh*
I'll let you know when we see one.

Pssst! It may be sooner than you think...
