I thought you should know...
I know that you know that I took more than those two videos of our clamming trip. And I want you to know that I know that you have been waiting for me to post the acutal photos. But what you don't know is that there were over 100 photos taken. Knowing that there were that many to go through was what took me so long to acutally post them. So, now knowing that we are all on the same page, sit back and enjoy the opportunity I have just presented you with to be "in the know". Ya know?

The only way to properly and successfully clam is when the tide is out. This beach was nothing but oyster shells.

The picture above is of my crew out digging up clams. This was low tide. Normally all of this would be underwater. Low tide doesn't last too long, so we had only a short window of time in which to score some clammies.
Those holes you see in the sand below are clams. They dotted the whole beach. We were guaranteed to get some.

Do you know what that little light colored speck is that Hunter is pointing to? A baby crab. Tiny, tiny, tiny baby crab. Still alive baby crab. We did not bring him home for dinner. We left him and his larger companion that Michael is holding, to grow and enjoy the rest of their day.
Did you know that hermit crabs are not closely related to true crabs? As a hermit crab grows, it abandons its small shell for a larger one. This habit of living in a second hand shell gives rise to the popular name "hermit crab", by analogy to a "hermit" who lives alone. We can compare Laynee to a hermit. She likes to do stuff alone. Until she realizes she's alone. And then she doesn't want to be alone.
See that large clam I am proudly holding up? Well, what you don't know is that it was filled with sand. No live clammy inside. But it was sure fun to dig out and pretend that it was alive.
And just so you know, there will be another post forthcoming of the second part of our day.
