A 'normal' day

My life is not exciting. It is not glamorous. Some days, I don't even get dressed because I think, "What's the use? I'm not going anywhere or doing anything special except housework, work, work. Laundry, dishes, vacuuming floors, making beds, etc., etc., etc." Some days the monotony of my life is suffocating and I wish I could go to an exotic place and swim with dolphins. Or drink from a coconut. Or wear a dress.
Some days, I get so discouraged from the mess of my house that I just want to go back to bed so I can sleep and forget about it for a while. I can spend a whole day, from dawn 'til dusk cleaning and then my crew will come home and the place will look as though I'd been watching The Bachelor re-runs and eating cake all day instead of slaving over the housework. I get bogged down and the whole house seems dark and gloomy. A bit Eyore-ish.

But then my sun comes out.
And asks me to play.
Makes me smile.
Brightens my day.

"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so. One day, I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return."

Here's to "normal" days.

I loved this post. Did you write that last part? I loved it. As John Lennon would say, "Life is what happens while we're busy making plans." Normal days are the best :)
