A trinket; a knickknack
That's kinda fun to say, isn't it?
One morning after the older kids had gone to school, Laynee and I decided to organize all of the books we have in our house that are specifically written for those whose brains have not yet reached adulthood. We put them all in bins and were getting ready to shove them under some beds when she decided it was time to educate me on the names of her little friends. Now, I like to consider myself pretty familiar with the dollies and characters which my youngest surrounds herself, but every now and then, she'll throw something out there and expect me to know exactly what she's talking about. Here's an example: This whole week she's been saying, "Ahkah", and I have no idea what that means. At first I thought it meant Aqua from Aquamarine. It wasn't. Barbie's The Magic of Pegasus's Annika? Nope. Ariel? Nein. I went through every imaginable, similar fictional character, but still could not figure it out. Then, finally today, I grabbed the movie, Annie starring Carol Burnette and others and I put it on for her to watch.
Off topic: Really, does it matter who else is in that movie? Seriously, Carol is hilarious. I've taken to imitating her when I want some picking up done around my house. "This room better be regulation before breakfast, my little pig droppings. Or kill, kill, kill!" And, "If this floor don't shiiine like the top of the Chrysler Building, your backsides will." I find it helps motivate the children.
Back on topic: As soon as I put this movie on, Layna jumped up on the couch and started pumping her arms up and down in the air and going, "Yes! Ahkah! Ahkah! Mommy, sing!" I was so excited that we had solved this mystery that I started singing at the top of my lungs to the song Little Girls. It kinda freaked Laynee out though. She was soon asking, no demading, that I stop at once. I guess I'd be afraid too if my mommy started ripping my doll's heads off and singing about the "prohibition of little girls".
