And exhale...

Today was the perfect day. The kids had their first day of school, our kitty was dewormed, I took a nap, read a book, watched a movie, ate what I wanted, and was completely spoiled.

I know I've mentioned before that I am surrounded by the most amazing people. That I love them all. And I love those of you whom I have not had the great fortune to meet. I'm just full of love right now.

(A few minutes later...) Still full of love...but laughing my head off. Michael is preparing for an elk hunt this weekend. He's practicing his calls as we speak and let me tell you what. Well...I can't tell you what. I video'd what. But I can't show it. Some things are just too private to share.

Back to the love part. Michael brought dinner home so I didn't have to cook today. Not that I would have minded, but he was super sweet to think of me like that. He also surprised me with a cake. Not just any cake. It's my new favorite and it's called Chocolate Cake with Cheesecake Filling. (Speaking of cheesecake, I had my first ever fried cheesecake on a stick last night. I'll tell you all about it sometime.) And just as I was polishing off my last bite of delishushness, he once more surprised me. With my very own bag of tootsie rolls. And I started bawling. Not because they were tootsie rolls, but because THEY WERE TOOTSIE ROLLS. Do you know how much I love them? Michael does. But the thing that made me cry wasn't that he gave me tootsie rolls. It's because he also gave them to me on this same occasion the first year we were married. And in that 2 seconds it took for me to look from my treats to Michael's eyes, 11 whole years flooded my mind. College, changing jobs, losing babies, birthing babies, pets, arguments over chimichangas, and countless other treasures accosted me at once and there was so much happiness swimming around in there that the dam broke and they all came splashing out. Tears of happiness. That's what they were. All from a little old bag of tootsie rolls. I'll never be able to look at another tootsie roll the same way.
