Lake Powell, Part 1
Ahhh. Where to begin? Have I mentioned my frustration with blogger? Well, yeah. FRUSTRATION. An understatement. If I could package up a screaming email wherein a life size image of my head would pop out of the screen and tell them to MAKE UP THEIR MINDS and quit changing things around so that it is easy to move pictures, upload pictures, and blog in general, I would be a happier person. Maybe some of my anger issues come from the fact that my children are driving me batty. Seriously crazy. To the point of insanity. When does school start, again? I love them and all, but come on! Do I really care if Hunter is breathing Corrine's air, or if Corrine is listening to Nickelback out of order? No. I also don't care that it's not fair that there is a one hour difference between us and Utah.
On to my synopsis of our trip. Remember when I said that there were over 1,000 pictures taken? I'm dead serious. Honest. You don't want to question me in this mood right now because I might just throw my two year old at your head. Back on track...I had a lot of photos to go through, so I thought I would break it up into more than one post.
To start with, our holiday was so jam packed with fun stuff that we couldn't help but take about 900 pictures each. So, 5 cameras times 900 pictures equals roughly 4500 pictures. Some were duplicates and were therefore deleted. I'm not sure exactly why I feel it important to tell you about that, but there you go.
There was fishing, tubing, kneeboarding, eating, swimming, fishing, sunning, frog hunting, guitaring, eating, high diving, fishing, mud bathing, crafting, eating, rattlesnaking, sand castle making, fishing, water sliding, ice cream, frisbee-ing, self portraits, fishing, and dancing.
Here's the rattlesnaking part. This little bugger was found slithering around behind the tent. No worries, though. Our local wildlife biologist removed him from the premises, rather quickly. After posing for some photos, of course.

Grandma had a fun treasure hunt planned for the kids. It was filled with all kinds of Pirate's Booty. This was after all, the Pirate Party 2009.
These two should be models because they look that good. Even when they're not trying.

Then there was dancing. Ahhh, the dancing. I'll let the pictures talk for themselves.

The Electric Slide was fun.

Still Electric Sliding. We got skills.
Brandon sometimes dances to the beat of his own drum.
Sometimes, Mike does too. Which is why we love them.
Have I told you that we danced the Electric Slide?

We water skied, too. Every one of the kids, except The Bug, got out on the kneeboard. They were so awesome! I don't even know who this photo is of, but I like it. It makes me happy.
Almost every day we went to the marina for ice. And ice cream. Mmmmmm.
We were serenaded by The Davester.
I love this shot. Jocelyn and her daddy, Muncle Mike, aka: Lonnie Powell, aka: Princess. It was their hospitality (and boat/boating equipment) that made the whole trip.

The whole Baer family. Love them.
Aren't they the cutest?
We ate while we were at Lake Powell. We ate a lot.

Ummm, not sure how this photo ended up on here. But it makes me laugh so I'm leaving it.
Hunter on the kneeboard.
Mason on the kneeboard. The only shots I'm missing from this sequence are the ones of Lorna throwing the boat into neutral, hastily removing her sunglasses and jumping off the front of the boat to rescue Mason who's knees were still strapped to the board after he had let go of the rope and was trying to stay afloat. She looked a lot like Superman in that moment. It was amazing to behold the mother "Baer" in action.
Roo got some kneeboarding in, too.
and Muncle Mike.
Migeul got up on the skis, and somewhere in here should be a shot of Cassidy on the kneeboard too. That one may be in another post somewhere...you'll just have to take me at my word when I tell you that she did awesome.
One of the fun crafts Grandma had planned for the kids was to tie water balloons onto their flip flops. They were occupied for a good portion of the day with this one.

Another fun craft was making pirate necklaces and bracelets.

Another fun craft was making pirate necklaces and bracelets. One person starts out with the Cap'n hat and while they are the Cappy, they have to talk like a pirate the whole time. Whatever they say goes. If they ask you to get them a drink, you do it. If they want you to dance, you dance. If The Captain says to swab the deck, you better hop to it. The only catch was, if you stopped talking like a pirate while you wore the hat, even for one word, the person who caught you would get to be the Captain. We all had a great time with this game.

P.S. Look at all of these flaths! What are we, hippos??
P.S.S. I'm sorry about my long comment. I warned you...I am abnormal. Really.
