Organic

My Man had a late season elk tag and much to my joy, he brought home an elk. Now our freezer(s) are full and we will be "Living [well] Off the Fat of the Land"*.
Yep. We grind, wrap and freeze our own meat. Notice that the grinder we use is the "Deluxe Set". I shudder to think what the non-deluxe set would be like, because now, after spending 6 plus hours grinding the meat by hand, my right arm is slightly more muscular and shapely than my left.
*Our good friends put together a cookbook with all their favorite recipes on cooking, canning and preparing food. Not just any food, mind you. Organic food. Which means all the vegetables they grew in their humongous garden, and all the meat they hunted. Whether it's duck, goose, tuna, salmon, perch, venison, you name it, they've got it. Except chicken. They don't like chicken so much. Now, for someone like me who doesn't like to eat seafood or even birds so much, with these recipes, you can't go wrong. I have tasted almost all of them and eating them is like eating candy to me. Which is huge because my sweet tooth is one to be reckoned with.

I'm so jealous! I wish I had fresh meat in my freezer. I've been wanting to buy a cow (you know, from a butcher) so that I know where my meat is coming from, but we just don't have space! That's so cool that you guys do that!

Maybe the wildlife in Oregon tastes better. I don't know but the deer and elk Brent ever caught after the first couple ended up with friends and now he doesn't go anymore. I did make a deer roast once that was pretty good but I never could duplicate it after that one time. Now Brent doesn't hunt anymore and fishing is strictly catch and release. I do reap the benefits from our veggi garden though and love it.

Oh yeah, we have bought cows before and believe me, so worth it if you have the money up front and the space for it.
Remember that yummy food Mike made last time we came and we put some yummy sauce on it? Raspberry or something...it was delicioso...I love meat...any kind. Yes... any kind. Em! You get that mind out of the gutter.
