In honor of New Year's...
...I'll post about Christmas.
The night before Christmas was Christmas Eve. Something must have been in the air that night because Little Bug did not want to go to sleep. So she stayed up, singing in her bed until about 11 or 11:30, I don't know for sure because I was straining my ears to listen for Santa's reindeer on my roof. See, our roof is in dire need of new shingles and if I heard the Big Man up there with 8 large mammals, (9 if you include Rudy, and I do) I needed to be prepared to get on out there and say, "Hey. I know roofs are kinda your thing, but could you for once use the front door? We locked Daisy in the kids' room, there's a fire in the fireplace and I promise not to snatch someone else's gifts from your big ol' sack." My telepathy powers must be getting stronger, because there was no evidence the next day that he had landed on the roof. Thanks Big Man.
The older two kids woke up at 6:30-ish, and came running in our room to declare that SANTA HAD BEEN HERE AND HE TOOK A BITE OUT OF ALL THE COOKIES AND LEFT THEM, EWWWWWW! Surprisingly, Layna wasn't awake with all the racket, and I was sad for her to miss this special morning, so I went in to wake her up and this is what I found: her glaring at me from underneath her hair.
This is what she did when she saw the tree. I don't think she was impressed at all with the stash (size isn't relative) of presents under the tree.
In case you were wondering, we don't believe in pajamas at our house. We have trained our children to wear their clothes to bed, so that way they don't have to bother with getting dressed the next day. Plus, they'll always be picture ready no matter the time of day!

Layna loves to watch Barbie movies and will stand right in front of the TV to do so. I believe Santa was a genius to think to get her her very own couch to sit on. And how awesome is it that it opens up into a bed, too?
After sitting on her couch for a photo, she snuggled up with Daddy for the rest of the morning and didn't want to touch a single gift. She was so grumpy!
Bub and Roo got MP3 players and have been glued to them ever since. We've only replaced the batteries twice in each one.
A book on Fairies to go along with her pile of goods.
Before going to snuggle with her daddy, Laynee laid on my lap and whined because she was jealous of my new iPOD.

Before going to snuggle with her daddy, Laynee laid on my lap and whined because she was jealous of my new iPOD. Ok, seriously. I have the most amazing husband in the world. We said this year we weren't going to get eachother anything for Christmas, (you know, the economy and all) so I didn't get him a thing (I KNOW! STOP ALREADY!) but he broke the rules and got me an iPOD. I think he did it for selfish reasons, however. He was probably getting sick of all the girlie music I was putting on his. Well, that and he probably wanted to actually use his own once in a while. But all this isn't why he is amazing. He is one of the most unselfish people in the world. He loves us so much and works his hiney off to support us, and never complains about it. So, thanks, my love. For my new muscial device and for being the papa coyote who always brings home the dead rabbit without ever even taking a bite until the rest of the family is full and fat.
