I can explain
Or maybe I should just not even say anything.
Ummm, yeah.
It all started with an outfit Missy wanted to wear to school today. It was a sparkly pink sequined thingy that was probably at one time used as a strapless halter top. I don't really remember how she accquired it, but there it sat, in her bag of dress up clothes, when somehow it grabbed her attention. This is what she chose to wear to school. The place where she receives most of her education. Most, but not all. I am known to educate our children as well. And last night I did just that.
"Mom, can you wash this shirt so I can wear it with this skirt?"
"You are so not wearing that skirt without something underneath. It looks like a hoochie mama skirt."
"Can I wear tights with it?"
"You can wear jeans or leggings with it, but not tights."
"You can wear jeans or leggings with it, but not tights."
She accepted this and moved on to other important issues, like writing her name in a big heart right next to Zac Efron's. I maybe should have used a different adjective to describe the 'skirt', because when she got in the car today after school, she goes, "Mom. I'm really glad you told me to wear leggings instead of tights today, because it was cold! Oh, and Mrs. Carson wants to talk to you. She says I can't say 'Hoochie Mama' at school."
Ummm, yeah.
"Who did you call Hoochie Mama?"
"No one. I saw Mrs. Carson's skirt and it was pink like mine and I thought it was so pretty. So I told her it was an awesome hoochie mama outfit."
Next time, I'll be a bit more careful with my word choices.
