Sad day

Today was a sad day for us. I took our Cache (cash, cashee dog) to the animal shelter.:( WE've had Cache since he was 11 weeks old. WE bought him from a breeder while we lived in Arizona. He is a 4 year old wire haired jack russell terrior. He's not your typical jrt, though. he doesn't jump! He's so funny. He loved us and the kids adored him. But we just couldn't keep him anymore. he was really barky and too aggressive with other dogs. And we live in a neighborhood where EVERYONE has a dog. but not everyone keeps their dogs on leashes or fenced. GRRR!!! They run around loose and wild and this tempted Cache way too much. He would escape our yard and go in for the kill. Literally. He DID NOT like other dogs at all. He did, though come to tolerate Daisy. He had no choice in that matter, seeing as she is double his size.
Anyways...I cried when i filled out the papers describing him and what he likes/dislikes. And i bawled when the woman came out to the car to get him. ANd I SOBBED when i watched him walk away with her. He turned around one final time and looked at me with his beautiful amber eyes as if to ask, "but what did i do?" The kids seemed to be OK. They were a little sad today, but I had been preparing them that this would come, so we have had time to say good bye. We took pictures this morning before school and he slept in their room last night. He ate like a king before we left and he got a bath so he was all nice and clean. The woman at the shelter said that we could call back in a couple of days to see if he was adopted yet, or not. She also said that small dogs like him usually get adopted quickly. And since he is pure bred, she thinks he'll find a home soon. I hope so. And i hope they have lots of room for him to run and chase birds! WE love you CAchey boy!

Oh that reminds me of when we had to take our dog in a couple of years ago because she was just too much. It is so heart breaking when you have to give someone up that is part of your family.
