Our 4th of July story...

We had so much fun on the 4th. First, there was a little parade the kids were able to participate in, then we went to the city park and joined in the festivities there. Later on that evening we had the choice to either go into town and fight the crowds for a parking space and a place to sqeeze our blanket in on a lawn somewhere, or we could sit in our own front yard, light our own fireworks and not have to worry about crowds. We chose the latter. It was so funny! The last time we did our own fireworks, Corrine was 14 months old! They have no memory of it, pretty much. We got out the sparklers and the kids were so freaked out, they wouldn't touch them for a good 10 minutes. After they made sure I wouldn't blow up just from touching them, of course! When we lit the bigger, noisier fireworks, they covered their ears and squoze their eyes shut. Hunter said they scared him! Daisy (the golden retriever) whined and hid under our chairs, Cache (the jack russell terrior) ran circles around them and barked. The kids moved their chairs further back behind us to hide under the carport. I couldn't help but sing the theme to "The Beverly Hillbillies" in my head. It was all quite comical. Michael and I had a good laugh about it! I guess we should be glad that we scared the crap out of the kids and they'll never burn the house down from playing with fireworks, right? Oh, these are the days... ;)

Oh....That sounds like such FUN!! I wish we could do fireworks here! Unfortunatley, they're illegal! Too many stupid people, I guess?!?! The $500 minimum fine and up to 6 months in prison didn't sound like fun!! lol
